Aïda Ruilova is primarily known for her video works that intermix appropriated and original footage to explore the associative potential of video. Ruilova’s premiere of The Silver Globe at The Kitchen in the fall of 2007 marked an important departure in her work to bring together her background as a trained musician and her history as former member of the experimental noise-rock band Alva. Her performance work combined sculpture and fractured video culled from historical sources to create tense, dark and surprisingly funny, operatic results.
