Les Spectacles Vivants, Sample

As a part of the Contemporary French Art and Performance Series in 2000, The Kitchen and the Downtown Arts Festival presented a sample from Les Spectacles Vivants, a series of performances curated by Serge Laurent of the Pompidou Center in Paris. The performance group Grand Magasin and soloists Xavier Le Roy, Claudia Trozzi, and David Shea performed work demonstrating new trends in French contemporary performance art. Grand Magasin performed a theater piece titled Le meilleur moment; Le Roy performed his famous dance solo Self-Unfinished, which he would present at The Kitchen once again in 2002; and Trozzi presented a performance piece called Park. Shea only performed his untitled music piece on the night of September 14.
