Curated by RoseLee Goldberg, “IMPORTS: Performance Artists from Other Shores” was a series held at The Kitchen in 1979 that presented exclusively international artists. Min Tanaka and Derek Bailey, who collaborated for around a year prior to the performance, presented a dance and music improvisation. Accompanied by Bailey’s guitar, Tanaka performed a dance in the form of “body weather,” a style he helped create as a “sensory thread that must exist” between the body of the dancer and the audience/environment.
