From August through December 1975, Metropolis Video recorded live performances at CBGB, a raucous Lower East Side club that served as the locus of New York’s “New Wave Rock Music” scene. The group hoped to create an alternative video style befitting the alternative rock music played at CBGB. The tapes featured bands including The Heartbreakers, Orchestra Luna, Tuff Darts, and Talking Heads. Originally shown on public access television as part of Metropolis Video’s three-part program Rock From CBGB’s, the video footage was screened at The Kitchen in 1977 on October 6 and 8.
