Wendy Perron’s Standard Deviation Part II is the second and final part of her Standard Deviation series. The dance performance featured videos by Cathy Weis, showing scenes including winter landscapes and fingers typing on a typewriter. Wendy Perron notes that she wanted the videos to be seen as an extension of the dance, not an interruption. Whereas Part I begins with a duo, Part II starts with a trio of dancers that perform with sharp-edged movement. Music combines the materials of performance and video. Every night of the performance, three new people entered the dance. The newcomers had only had fifteen minutes prior to the show to partner with the choreographed trio.
