Nels Cline
Nels Cline is an American guitarist and composer best known as the lead guitarist of the band Wilco, which he joined in 2004. In the 1980s, Cline and his twin brother, Alex, a drummer, played jazz music. Since then, Cline has expanded his repertoire into rock, punk, and experimental music. Cline’s musical ventures include a guitar duo with Julian Lagel; a quartet called The Nels Cline 4 with Lage, bassist Scott Colley, and drummer Tom Rainey; Cup, a duo with Yuka C. Honda, Stretch Woven; a duo with percussionist Scott Amendola; the trio The Nels Cline Singers, with Amendola, bassist Trevor Dunn, and percussionist Cyro Baptista; and Stained Radiance, a live, improvisational performance project with painter Norton Wisdom. Rolling Stone named Cline one of the best 100 guitarists of all time.
