Based out of Chicago, the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble's often improvisational music blends traditional African and other non-Western forms with contemporary African American structures. Members Henry Huff, Edward Wilkerson Jr. and Kahil El 'Zabar, are each affiliated with the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, recognizing the equal importance of individual professionalism and group collaboration. These individuals draw on shared common experience of living as African American men in Chicago to inspire and fuel unified improvisations.
