Derrick Adams is a multidisciplinary, Brooklyn-based artist working across a range of artistic media including collage, photography, sculpture, and performance. His practice employs strategies of fragmentation and the manipulation of structure and surface to explore concepts of myth, deconstructionist theory, and general perception of self. By intertwining popular culture, historic narrative, and contrasting or forgotten accounts belonging to peoples of marginalized ethnic identities, Adams prompts reconsideration of canonic hierarchies. Adams performed his piece "Go Stand Next To The Mountain Narcissister: The Masquerade" at the Kitchen in May of 2010. For more information please visit: http://www.derrickadams.com.
