Min Tanaka is a Japanese dancer and actor who performed at The Kitchen in 1979 as part of the IMPORTS: Performance Artists from Other Shores series. Tanaka was trained in ballet and modern dance, but transitioned to improvisational dance forms in 1974. Inspired by movements from everyday and utilitarian tasks, his practice is an experimentation seeking out different ways to use the body. In the 1980s, Tanaka helped create the movement ideology of Body Weather and hosted dance workshops based in this from 1986-2010. Currently, he continues to investigate experimental movement practices.
