Yto Barrada is a visual artist based in Tangier, Morocco and New York City. The daughter of French journalist Hamid Barrada, Yto studied history and political science at Sorbonne, and photography at the International Centre of Photography. Her work—including film, photography, sculpture, and installation—began by exploring the precarious aspects of her hometown Tangier. Barrada had her solo exhibition in the United States at The Kitchen in 2006, entitled A Life Full of Holes.
