Matter Out of Place

Photo: David Allison

Matter Out of Place was a group exhibition held at The Kitchen, featuring new painting, video, sculptures and installations by New York-based artists who observe and activate public sites. Their work examines private and alternative relationships to strictly defined public spaces such as park and museum lobby.  The show, curated by Lumi Tan, provided a space for observers to think about time and space in the urban setting and the relationship of personal experience and public space.
