Celestial Excursions

Postcard_Ashley_CelestialExcursions_2003_forweb Robert Ashley's opera Celestial Excursions had its American premiere at The Kitchen in 2003. This work considers old people, what Ashley called, “one of the few minority groups basically unrecognized in the arts.” It included vocals by Joan La Barbara, performance by Joan Jonas, and piano by “Blue” Gene Tyranny, among others.
