Performances

Matt Mullican’s February Performances at The Kitchen in 1978 was a pivotal moment in his career. It is here that he first performed under hypnosis and presented his alter ego, “That Person,” who is described as ageless and genderless. This practice would continue to define his artistic style throughout his career. For Mullican, hypnosis is a way to explore bodily and mental projections.
