(c) Walid Raad

In 1979, Walid Raad formed The Atlas Group to catalogue the contemporary history of Lebanon with a focus on the Civil War that was so formative to the artist's youth. In The Dead Weight of a Quarrel Hangs, The Atlas Group presented photographic and video documents that spoke to the heterogeneous nature of war and its impact upon one society. The exhibition included two performance-lectures by Walid Raad.
